Remembering the Brave
Posted by Tisha Peterson on
Hi, I’m Tisha with Enchanted 3 Boutique. Memorial Day weekend we remember all of the brave men and women that served in our military. We thank you, and your families, for your honor, bravery, sacrifice, and service. Today I want to feature some brave men and women that served in the US military that I had the honor to know.
My husband, Mike’s Aunt Margie and Uncle Lester were two of those people. Margie joined the Air Force in May of 1952. She spent 2 years working in administration. Lester joined the Army in April of 1944 serving in WWII with the 1263rd Combat Engineer Unit. After serving in the Army Lester spent 21 years in the United States Air Force as an airplane mechanic and crew chief. During that time, he served in the Korean & Vietnam wars. While in the Air Force, Lester met Margie while stationed in Texas. They had a whirlwind courtship, falling in love and getting married only three weeks after they met. Their love lasted sixty five years until Lester passed with Margie following just a few years later. I didn’t know Lester long or well, but I found him to be one of the best storytellers I have ever known.
My grandfather also served, although not long due to a medical discharge. Last year, my grandmother passed away and while going through her effects we found old letters from my grandpa to hear while he was in the service. They were high school sweethearts, when he joined the service. I have always known my grandparents had a special kind of love. They were married for 57 years before he passed away and until the end he was still getting “fresh” with her. He loved to embarrass her by trying to get kisses in front of everyone. Those letters were a window into that love and I’m grateful we were able to get a glimpse of what they shared.
While we are all camping or BBQing, and celebrating Memorial Day, don’t forget to honor the men and women and their families for their sacrifices. Here are Enchanted 3 Boutique thank you all!
If you have a soldier or sailor you want to honor, a story you want to share, or just want to thank our service men and women leave a comment below. We would love to hear from you and share your stories and experiences. Happy Memorial Day. See you next Sunday!

Thanks for sharing your families history. I love hearing these stories. My grandfathers were both veterans one was in WWll and the other Korea. I wish I had asked and listened more about their times in service.
