Hi, I'm Tisha with Enchanted 3 Boutique. With many small businesses struggling due to the restrictions placed on them during the pandemic, the shop local call has been heard far and wide. I try to shop local when I can, but I will be honest...Its definitely more convenient to shop online or at a big box store where its a one shop stop. So I pose the questions, what entices you to shop local? Is it a sense of community, a need to answer the call, a distaste for corporations, or something else?
I shop local small business more now than I used to, especially in the last year. I would say that that with age came a sense of community. I want the people in my community to succeed. I want our community to thrive. Sometimes my community is as small as the small town I now call home. Sometimes its as big as my state. Michigan Made is another call I feel the need to answer.
I try to go to local restaurants instead of going to chains. I try to stop in to local boutiques when shopping for new jewelry or a hand bag, but I rarely hit up the local bakery when buying a birthday cake, or go to the mom and pop market when I am shopping for groceries. I often shop online for cloths or shoes. I hit up Starbucks instead of going to the corner coffee shop. And much of the time I feel a little guilty when I do.
What about you? We'd love to hear from you. Comment below and let us know what you think? What are your favorite local haunts? Do you feel like you did your civic duty when you do?
